Albany Conquest escapes ThunderBirds 59-49

ALBANY, NY – Daytona Beach WR Patrick Rouzard had a strong game for the ThunderBirds catching 10 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns but it was not enough as the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds dropped to  the Albany Conquest by a score of 59-49.  The ThunderBirds led 28-27 at halftime but could not hold the momentum in the second half.

 

Matt Bohnet was 22 of 32 passing for 306 yards with four touchdown passes but he also threw two costly interceptions and had two fumbles for the ThunderBirds (2-10).  Albany QB Dan Cole had a solid game completing 19 of 34 passes for 216 yards and five touchdown passes on the day for the Conquest (4-8).  Cole also got it done on the ground rushing for two scores

 

The ThunderBirds defense was led by Jocques Richardson who picked off his sixth pass of the season and Jerome Walker who had two sacks for the ThunderBirds.

 

The story of the game was turnovers.  Two costly interceptions by Bohnet and two fumbles by Bohnet were all turned into scores by the Albany Conquest.

 

The ThunderBirds return home after a four game road trip to take on the South Georgia Wildcats on Sunday, June 29 at the Ocean Center.  The ThunderBirds are sponsoring “Pop Warner Day” and “YMCA Day” that afternoon.  The game kicks off at 3:00 PM and will be broadcast on Nifty TV as well as WROD 1340-AM in Daytona Beach.  For more information, go to www.dbthunderbirds.com.
